John Boyega becomes a Theatre Peckham patron

John Boyega, aged 24 and one of the stars of the new Star Wars movies, has become a patron to Theatre Peckham, a learning theatre that he worked with from age nine to 14.

According to BBC News, he said that the theatre was “inspiring young people like myself to be the change we want to see in the industry” which is what he admired about it.

He then went on to say “As a graduate of the company, I am honoured to be in a position to give back.”

On the theatre’s website, it is said that the company “support thousands of young people from one of the most deprived areas of London – with very low levels of engagement with the arts… Theatre Peckham is a much loved and highly accessible introduction to the performing arts.”

Along with John, Sir Ian McKellen and Jenny Agutter are also patrons of the theatre.

Great work, John!
